Bright Ideas Education Grant awarded to Mrs. Beirne at Mattamuskeet Elementary School
Over $1,000 has been granted to Mrs. Louise Beirne, 5th grade teacher at Mattamuskeet Elementary School, to support the purchase of video recording equipment for the “I See You!” project proposal designed for English Language Arts and Social Studies.
Mrs. Beirne recognized a need in her classroom as many of her students did not have internet available in their homes at the beginning of this school year. This project involves the use of action video cameras to be used for multiple reasons in her classroom; but mostly, to enhance the interactive teaching and learning going on in the classroom as well as at home. This equipment would be assigned to different students at different times during the school year to complete certain assignments and projects for either subject areas.
Mrs. Beirne also hopes to extend this wonderful resource to other grade levels at school. Mrs. Beirne accurately embodies the Hyde County School District’s Mission of “Doing What’s Best for Students.” With the help of outstanding educators like Mrs. Beirne, we continue to strive to provide the highest quality of education for all students, despite even a pandemic. We are proud of her accomplishment, and we are looking forward to seeing this project in action soon!
