CLASS OF 1973 DONATES TO MATTAMUSKEET SCHOOL
Back in May 2023 at their 50th Class Reunion, Members present from the Class of 1973 voted to give a donation in the amount of $500 to their former Alma Mater, Mattamuskeet School. They acknowledged school budgets across the state have been drastically reduced with teachers digging into their own pockets and resources to purchase supplies for their classroom and students. They wanted these funds to be used for supplies in hopes it alleviates some of this need.
Alumni present at this reunion were: Cecil Clayton, Willie Shaw, Elsie Ward, Raul Shelton, Rudolph Shelton, Loretta Mann and Ella Norman. Mattamuskeet School Principal, Allison Etheridge, along with a representation of our High Grades Students welcomed the committee from the Class of 1973 to receive the donation. Ms. Etheridge expressed her gratitude for this wonderful gesture and assured them these funds would be put to good use to support the needs of the students and teachers at school.
School spirit never really wanes despite the years, and acts of kindness such as this only reassures us that Once a Laker, Always a Laker!
