The Hyde County School System is mainstreaming the process to recruit substitute teachers. You may now obtain certification online through Western Regional Education Services. The cost through WRES is around $45 and it is self-paced. Therefore, participants can take as much time as needed to complete the course requirement and become a certified substitute teacher. The certification may also be obtained face-to-face through any community college that offers the training.
